Last updated: October 29, 2024

This document outlines the Code of Conduct for the Bundaberg Judo Club.

Definition of “the Club”

For the purposes of these policies and enrolment form, the terms “Bundaberg Judo,” “the club,” and “Bundaberg Judo Club” refer collectively to the judo classes provided by the instructors and the premises where these classes take place. These terms do not imply the existence of a formal organisation or legal entity.

Commitment to a Positive Environment

The Club is dedicated to providing a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment for all students and families. It is more than just a place to learn; it is a space for developing skills that reach beyond the dojo. To ensure a happy and positive experience for all, it is essential that students, parents, guardians, extended family, friends, and staff understand and adhere to this Code of Conduct.

Respect

  • All members associated with the Club must demonstrate respect towards teachers, staff, parents, and other students at all times.

  • Bow when stepping onto or off the mats. This gesture signifies respect for the training space, your instructors, and fellow students, reinforcing our commitment to tradition and mutual respect.

  • Students are expected to listen carefully to teachers and follow their instructions and directions at all times. This is crucial for maintaining a safe and effective learning environment.

  • If students do not understand an instruction, they should feel encouraged to ask questions for clarification. This promotes a deeper understanding of techniques and principles and allows the instructor to adjust their approach to issuing future instructions so they are clearer.

  • Students should remain attentive and engaged during lessons to maximise their learning and support their fellow classmates. Students unable to follow instruction or participate in class should rest in the seating area until they are able to participate once more.

Preparation and Punctuality

  • Be ready before class. Late arrivals must wait at the edge of the mat until sensei indicates for them to enter.

  • Hair must be tied up, nails trimmed, and hygiene maintained (e.g., body odour, clean clothes, and clean body/feet).

  • Thank the teachers and fellow students at the conclusion of each class.
